Quartz is an engineered stone. That means that quartz consists of 93 percent natural quartz and is bound together by other minerals, byproducts, and resins. Quartz is natural in appearance and is uniform in substance. It’s available in an array of colors and patterns, and even some of those certain quartz pieces can take on the appearance of granite. If you see other pieces that look like marble, concrete, or something else, you may be looking at quartz. The thing is, quartz doesn’t require sealing. That’s because of the different resins used in the manufacturing process. The evenness throughout a slab diminishes the possibility of cracks or other problems with quartz. Quartz is also less likely to take on stains and doesn’t foster bacteria’s growth because quartz resins create a less porous surface.
